Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, with reference to Q20 of the oral evidence given by the Chief of Defence Logistics and Support to the Public Accounts Committee on 13 November 2023, HC66, if he will give the Chief of Defence Logistics and Support the authority to direct single services to address defence inventory management.

Commander Strategic Command commissioned a Support Function review which concluded that the Support Function should implement a series of adjustments to the current operating model to tighten the Chief of Defence Logistics and Support’s delivery responsibilities, enhance his authority and influence, and clarify and strengthen Defence Support’s position within Strategic Command.
