Question to the Ministry of Defence:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what assessment has he made on the total number of Wagner mercenaries fighting on behalf of Russia in Ukraine.

Russia's Armed Forces have demonstrated generally low effectiveness in combat, a result of poor training, logistics and strategy. Given Ukraine's recent counteroffensive, Russia will continue to rely on Wagner mercenaries to supplement its own armed forces in an attempt to improve operational effectiveness.
