Monitoring of progress toward the ambitions and goals of HM Government’s 25 Year Environment Plan is set through annual progress reports. The most recent report was published and laid before Parliament in July 2022 as the first statutory report under Section 9 of the Environment Act (2021).

25 Year Environment Plan Annual Progress Report - April 2021 to March 2022 (publishing.service.gov.uk)

The reports consider whether the natural environment has, or particular aspects of it, have, improved over the reporting period. The report also summarises actions taken and their contribution towards the Plan’s long-term ambitions. This covers actions having an impact on environmental improvement now, and actions enabling environmental improvement in the future.
