Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, if he will make an estimate of the number of housing repossessions there have been which were due to mortgage defaults in each of the last five quarters.

HMCTS publishes statistics on volumes and timeliness of mortgage possession here - Mortgage and landlord possession statistics - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).

These statistics include the volumes of mortgage possession claims, orders, warrants and repossessions but we are not able to break these volumes down by the reason for possession so these will include all mortgage possession claims and not just those arising from a mortgage default.
