Question to the Ministry of Justice:

To ask Her Majesty's Government how many people currently in prison are serving a custodial sentence of (1) less than or equal to six months, (2) greater than six months and less than 12 months, (3) 12 months to less than four years, (4) four years to less than 10 years, (5) 10 years or more, excluding indeterminate sentences, (6) life sentences, (7) IPP sentences, and (8) extended determinate sentences; and what is the ethnicity breakdown in each category.

The Ministry of Justice holds the data on the number of people currently in prison broken down by the sentence categories required and the ethnicity breakdown in each of those categories.

These data can be viewed in the attached table.
