To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, when any member of the Intelligence and Security Committee last visited NSA/NRO Menwith Hill in their capacity as a member of that committee.

The Intelligence and Security Committee does not comment on the details of its work programme. Where appropriate it publishes information on visits it has undertaken in its Annual Reports.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, how much his Department has spent on running costs for RAF (a) Menwith Hill, (b) Lakenheath and (c) Croughton in each of the last three years for which figures are available.

The running costs for the Royal Air Force are:

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, whether he has been informed of the building of another radome at NSA/NRO Menwith Hill; and what recent discussions he has had with his US counterpart and others on this matter.

The US authorities did formally notify the Ministry of Defence of the proposal to construct a further radome at RAF Menwith Hill. This matter is being handled by officials from the Defence Infrastructure Organisation who recently submitted a planning application to the Local Authority for the new radome on behalf of the US.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what arrangements his Department has made with the US administration on control of the base at NSA Menwith Hill.

RAF Menwith Hill is made available to the United States under the terms of the NATO Status of Forces Agreement. The Ministry of Defence retains ownership of the base and operations are carried out with the full knowledge and consent of the UK Government.

The UK's Reaper Remotely Piloted Air Systems (RPAS) are remotely operated from RAF Waddington. The US does not operate RPAS from the UK.

Operations at RAF Menwith Hill have always been, and continue to be, carried out with the knowledge and consent of the UK Government.
