To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, how many constituents in Ellesmere Port and Neston constituency have been deregistered by dental practices each year since 2021.

The information requested is not available. Unlike general practitioners' patients, dental patients are not registered to a particular practice. A dental practice can accept a patient for a course of treatment if they have capacity to deliver that treatment. There are no geographical restrictions on which dental practice a patient may attend, allowing patients the choice of where they receive treatment.

Palliative and end of life care is commissioned locally by integrated care boards in response to the needs of their local population. The Government and NHS England are committed to the long-term sustainability of high-quality palliative and end of life care for all children and young people. Discussions between the Department and NHS England regarding the future of the Children’s Hospice Grant beyond 2023/24 are ongoing, and NHS England is aiming to be able to communicate details in the coming weeks, as soon as is practically possible.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what the average waiting time was for an orthodontist referral in Cheshire and Wirral in the latest period for which data is available.

The current average waiting time for an orthodontist in Cheshire is two and a half years, and just over two years in Wirral. Not all referrals to an orthodontist will be eligible for National Health Service treatment. NHS orthodontic treatment is free for people under the age of 18 years old with a clear health need and assessed as meeting the criteria for NHS treatment.

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what impact assessment the Government's has conducted on its decision in September 2020 to categorise NHS Ear Wax Removal Services as non-core for the purpose of services that must be provided by GP surgeries.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has issued guidance no longer advising manual ear syringing due to the risks associated, such as trauma to the ear drum or infection. NICE guidance suggests alternative arrangements for treatment of excessive ear wax, such as considering ear irrigation using an electronic irrigator, micro suction, or another method of earwax removal, which could include manual removal using a probe.
General practitioner services follow this guidance and are increasingly recommending self-care methods as the primary means to support the safe removal of ear wax, such as in cases of deafness. Commissioners should ensure that there is appropriate access to ear wax removal services which are free at the point of use, where these are necessary and clinically appropriate for a patient.

The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) operate the Healthy Start scheme on behalf of the Department. The NHSBSA is committed to increasing uptake of the scheme to ensure as many children as possible have a healthy start in life.
The NHSBSA promotes the Healthy Start scheme through its digital channels and has created free tools to help stakeholders promote the scheme locally. The NHSBSA has also reached out to stakeholders to see how it can support them to promote the scheme.
