Question to the Ministry of Defence:
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what steps he is taking with allies to support deterrence and security in the Taiwan Strait.
Over one third of global maritime trade passes through the South China Sea. Consequently, all countries have a clear interest in peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. The UK's position is consistent: that any cross-Strait issues must be settled peacefully by the people on both sides of the Strait through constructive dialogue, without the threat or use of force or coercion.
